I’m an enthusiastic and experienced teacher and a firm believer that whatever your standard, age or motivation, learning the harp should be a fun and rewarding experience. My students range from adult amateurs to those wishing to prepare for a career in music and many have won national competitions or gained places in organisations such as the National Youth Harp Orchestra.

My teaching experience is wide ranging. I was awarded a Distinction in my PGCE teaching qualification and  spent two years working at a school in North London as part of the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. I am currently  harp tutor for the Royal Northern College of Music’s Junior department, Uppingham School, Repton School and Denstone College. I am also the harp teacher for the Transpennine branch of the Clarsach Society where I run monthly sessions featuring ensemble and solo pieces and  technique improver clinics as well as a bi-monthly classical class exploring classical repertoire and its context. I am regularly invited  as a guest teacher, most recently for Leeds College of Music, Yorkshire Young Musicians, Yorkshire Young Sinfonia, RNCM Young Harps’ Scheme and Cottingham Harp Course.

My lessons are tailored to suit the individual needs of each pupil and as well as offering regular tuition I also give one-off sessions to focus on a specific aspect of playing.

Private lessons are currently available in person at my harp studio in Little Eaton, Derbyshire or online using Zoom.
