Chroma
Virtuosic harp duo reimagining the classical harp repertoire.

Recently featured artists on BBC Radio 3, Chroma Harp Duo have crafted a name for themselves as commissioners, creators and virtuosic innovators. Drawing on a wide range of composers and musical styles, they challenge the classical harp stereotype with concerts that take audiences on a kaleidoscopic journey exploring new sound worlds from arrangements of much loved masterpieces to Indian raga inspired compositions and works that utilise the harp as a percussion instrument.
Regularly performing for music societies and concert halls throughout the UK, the duo were finalists in the Wales International Harp Festival and first prize winners at the London Camac Harp Ensemble Competition as well as being awarded the UK Harp Association’s prize for the best performance of a new British work. They were invited to perform in the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s inaugural Live at The Hex performance series and have been guest artists at the Royal Albert Hall and Buxton International Festival.
Chroma are passionate about expanding the harp duo repertoire and in 2017 they gave the European premiere of 'Scorpions' by Paul Patterson and have since regularly worked with composers to develop and perform new works. Their most recent commissions have included pieces by Amy Turk, Ailie Robertson, Claire Victoria Roberts, Supriya Nagarajan and Hari Baskar. The duo firmly believe in the importance of nurturing and encouraging young musical talent and established their youth composition scheme, Chroma Harp Composers, to celebrate new music for the harp composed in any genre by musicians under 19 years of age.
They are extremely grateful to the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust, Creative Scotland, Britten Pears Arts, Help Musicians UK and the Marchus Trust who have funded and supported these opportunities.
